This project started out as a proposed remodel of the original house on the property.
The clients were an active family looking for additional space for living and entertaining.
After evaluating their wish list, some initial sketches and finding that the original structure had challenges too limiting and severe to overcome in order to accomplish the necessary additions and renovations, we suggested abandoning the original house and starting from scratch.
In addition to the structural challenges of the house the site had it's own issues. The site had both grading and zoning conditions to overcome and those were addressed with creative design eliminating the need for any zoning variances.
INVITING CURB APPEAL
The new design with it's copper roofed front porch has inviting curb appeal. The soft color combinations for the exterior and interior finishes are from Farrow & Ball and selections were chosen by Michelle Morgan Harrison of Morgan Harrison Home, located in New Canaan. The interior was designed in an upscale craftsman style with painted wainscoting, built-ins, window trims and crown moulding throughout.
